It works out to be a very expensive way to buy them because they know they have a captive market in you. My advice would be to wait until you get to the grounds of the hotel, find a shop either there or in the town and start bartering. Many people don’t understand that in certain countries, you’re almost expected to barter, but of course they won’t tell you that! They love the tourists coming into their shop and paying over the odds for something! The way to start bartering is to give them an offer they will probably refuse. This will give them a good idea that you drive a hard bargain and probably won’t back down with a rubbish offer.
